Pray for Indonesia Review

Pray for Indonesia, But Filipinos are getting ready to dispatch our rescuers to Indonesia.

Kopi Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo, who is in Hanoi, Vietnam, with President Benigno Aquino 3rd, directed his aides in the DFA to prepare for the possible dispatching of a humanitarian team to assist in rescue and rehabilitation efforts in Indonesia.

The President and Secretary Romulo are in Hanoi where Mr. Aquino is on a state visit and both are attending the 17th Asean Summit.

Thank God, no Filipino has been affected by the tsunami and the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Sumatra. Our embassy in Jakarta is coordinating with local authorities and the Filipino community in Indonesia.

The Filipinos in Indonesia have been alerted to be of service and are said to be ready to provide assistance, if needed. The Filipinos are mostly in the Jakarta metropolitan region and in the main islands of Java (where Jakarta is). These compatriots of ours work as engineers, managers, supervisors and teachers in Indonesia.
